Health & Wellness
The Worcester Educational Development Foundation (WEDF) is dedicated to advancing health, wellness, and athletics for Worcester Public Schools students. Over the years, WEDF has funded a wide range of initiatives including the Mini-Olympics, mini-grants for school health and wellness programs, and the purchase of athletic equipment and team uniforms. These programs help ensure that students have opportunities to stay active, healthy, and engaged both inside and outside the classroom.
With nearly 200 athletic teams across Worcester Public Schools, participation in sports is a vital part of student growth, teamwork, and school pride. Unlike many suburban districts, Worcester does not charge students to play sports. However, the cost of equipment is significant—for example, a single football helmet can cost several hundred dollars.
By supporting WEDF’s Health & Wellness programs, donors help provide the resources needed to keep Worcester teams safe, competitive, and inclusive. Every contribution directly strengthens student health, athletic opportunities, and wellness education across the district.
